A native of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Matt Sheaffer considers himself  fortunate to combine his artistic ability with a fondness for scuba diving.

   Sheaffer attended Pennsylvania School of Art & Design in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, majoring in communication design with a minor in photography. Shortly after being certified in scuba, Sheaffer found himself "immersed in maritime history", especially with the shipwrecks off the Outer Banks, North Carolina. His scuba interest eventually led him to become an active member of the Hanover Search & Rescue Scuba Team.

   Sheaffer works in various media including acrylic, oil, and watercolor. He completes about three originals each year, then releases a  limited number of signed Giclée prints from each of his original paintings. Each print includes a summary relating to the history of the subject matter.

   Sheaffer's work is carried in galleries in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and North Carolina.
