People Get Ready

   In the creation of art to be included in her design for a thoroughbred horse street art sculpture for placement in Gettysburg, Alix wanted to include something other than the usual Civil War battle scene images. She came up with the idea for a timeline of slavery that progressed from right to left depicting the evolution of slavery beginning with capture, portrayed in darkness deep below the surface of the earth and moving though stages to eventual freedom at the other end. A ghost image of a train engine symbolizes the Underground R.R. that helped them move forward to the surface and the light above.
