Artist Alix D. McCown A Christian all her life, it is not surprising that a large number of Christian themes have found their way into Alix's artwork. Whether specifically chosen or arising out of her subconscious as in her "Unexpected Reflections" pieces, angels, butterflies, fish and other symbols abound as she reaches out to others through her art. The most profound example of this outreach is her miraculous painting titled " Dreaming in the Poppyfield" . The painting was done as a gift for a critically ill woman whom Alix had recently met while she was hospitalized in the same ICU unit with Alix's late husband. Alix was aware as she painted it that God's hand was directing her in its creation, all the way from style ( this is the only piece Alix ever created in a blend of black and white pencil and watercolor) to selection of subject matter ( Alix had no way of knowing that Carol's nickname for her husband's father who had loved her like his own daughter and had passed on years before was " Poppy" ). The selected prints listed below are presented using the Giclée printing system for museum quality art. To contact Alix write to her at alix.mccown@gotoai.com. |
