The waves are crashing around your fragile wooden raft, ready to break it to pieces at any moment. Sharks are circling, and there is no land in sight. Yet you cling to the one thing that can see you through - your faith.
Have you ever felt as if everything is beyond your control and about to overwhelm you? During the years Alix was taking care of her critically ill husband that feeling came often. It was then that she drew the sketch that is the basis for this unique piece.
When she came back to it later, rather than working the sketch into a regular type of painting, she added a background gradient and airbrushed in the foam of the whitecaps. The contrasting methods used here combine to create a style of working that is generally not seen. Use this piece as a reminder to always hang on, when you feel you are Adrift.
